Interview
Laid back. Interviewed by two senior drill site manager supervisors. 30 minutes interview session turned into almost an hour since we had a good time talking. I fit into their profile that they're looking for and had pretty good experience to relate to most of my questions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why do you want to work for Chevron? Is there a time you went above and beyond for a customer?
I applied through college or university. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Chevron (Houston, TX) in Apr 2013
Interview
Campus Interview, Phone Interview, On Site Interview. The total interview and evaluation process from the initial on campus interview to the clear for hire date took roughly six months and an additional 2 months to finally start my first day of work. The process to get hired on with Chevron is extensive and definitely is time consuming. They do a pretty extensive background check and two physical examinations. One is a medical examination the other is a physical/cardiovascular assessment. The background check is extensive as well. I had to submit a background check as well as tax information. By the time the entire process was done I was relieved and really couldn't take it anymore.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Followed the STAR method and asked questions related to leadership, mechanical ability and quantitative ability.
For example, Please describe an instance where you successfully led a group of people on a project/job task.
Could you describe a situation where you had to solve a mechanical problem related to your work?
Could you describe a situation where you had to calculate or use your quantitative reasoning to solve a problem out in the field?
They asked what made me apply to Chevron?
How did I get interested in the industry?
What are the main reasons I want to be a Chevron employee?
They also asked if I had any questions about them. I asked the recruiter about their job experience and assignments as well as what brought them to Chevron. I always like turning the questions around and seeing how well they present themselves. This provided a good break from the stressful interview process.
