Business Analyst - Assistant Vice President - ICG Analytics Interview

      Apr 28, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Citi (New York, NY) in Mar 2020

      Interview

The hiring manager connected with me on email requesting time-slots. First round of interview was with the hiring manager which was about work experience and questions were more behavioral. Second round of interview was with a technical analytics director. Second round of interview was slightly technical and more behavioral. I was then moved to the final round - 2 interviews with 2 managers, a technical data analysis assignment on excel followed by a presentation of findings with 3 directors. In an ideal scenario this would have been onsite in NYC, but due to COVID-19 , this was conducted virtually. I wished an HR would have connected or atleast been in the picture, since I had so many questions to ask about company work culture to prepare better for the interview. It was awkward to see that no one other than the director a.k.a the hiring manager connected. The 2 rounds of interview - 1 tech manager and other was a non-tech team manager. I got very good feedback on the very same call. Then I got an assignment on excel which was scheduled for 30 mins but I was allowed only 20 since my phone interview got spilled over and I lost 10 minutes of my problem solving time to it. Anyway, long story short, I was able to do the analysis about 75% and answered most of the questions asked in the assignment, During the presentation round, I explained the findings and also explained my approach of solving the remainder of 25% that I missed to the interview panel. I was asked a lot of counter questions by the hiring manager and I did fairly well in my honest opinion. I found it strange that the other 2 interviewers on the panel, did not ask me any, but I did see them taking notes as I was answering. Fast forward to 2 weeks later, since I did not hear back from the company, I wrote to the hiring manager, and I received no response. I sent another follow-up email only to receive no response. I think it in unfair to the candidate when the company/hiring manager/hr do not disclose the outcome of the interview. An interviewee invests time in preparing and also appearing for the interview and that needs to be respected. Absolutely unprofessional behavior from Citi and I am thoroughly disappointed !
