I applied online. I interviewed at CoStar Group in Sep 2020
Interview
Applied early September. Received a phone screening a week after applying. Scheduled Microsoft team interview with the technical manager the following week. Was told it would be half behavioral (resume) and half conceptual questions not taking longer than 45 min. The manager was nice but didn't seem in the slightest bit prepared. Thought the conversation went well. Was told I would be notified by mid-end October but never heard back. Even sent a last desperate attempt email to get a response in late October but still nothing. Always a TERRIBLE look when you ghost applicants. Will never apply here again.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CoStar Group (Arlington, VA)
Interview
1 phone screen with recruiter. 1 interview with engineers, mostly resume grill. and then 1 on-site with 2 back-to-back interviews. All interviews were mostly resume grill- tell me about this project/experience. Be ready to go into lots of detail about each bullet point in your resume. The on-site was fun, everyone is really friendly and wants to see you succeed. On-site was the only technically challenging part, they will ask for specifics on REST and OOP principles and other things that is related to your projects & experiences.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe OOP, why + when it is useful. Give examples of each OOP pillar.
I applied through college or university. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at CoStar Group (Arlington, VA) in Oct 2025
Interview
2 rounds: First Round is a Video/Zoom/Teams Screen with a Manager (They'll ask you questions about your resume, but it might be a vibe check, depending heavily on the Manager), and the second round is a Power Day. Also, for the first round, make sure you stand out. The Second Round is a Power Day interview. It is in person and 2 days (the first day is a casual networking-type event where you can meet some of your interviewers in a more casual setting, especially since you know who will be interviewing you ahead of time). The Second Day is the actual interview: two panels with two managers each (for a total of 4 managers, but one might bring along a SWE).
