      Director Interview

      Oct 13, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at College Board in Aug 2021

      Interview

I applied for the job in May. In early June I had a screening interview with HR. The interview went well and was very positive. Three weeks later I had an interview with the person hiring for the position. I was told that I would hear about next steps within a week. I did not hear anything for one month. In the interim, I emailed HR to inquire and the email went unanswered. In late July I was contacted to submit work samples. I was asked to submit them within 48 hours, even though it had been over a month since the interview. I submitted the samples and was contacted three weeks later and told that I was a finalist for the position. I was scheduled for three interviews, 2 on one day and one on the next day. All interviews went VERY well, and I felt confident about the position. I was told that I would hear something by phone within a week. A month later I had not heard anything, so I emailed HR....no response. After a few more weeks I emailed the person hiring (interview 2) and asked if there was any additional information needed. No response. Finally, two weeks later, I got a form response saying that I was not being hired. The email was two sentences long. So, after 4 months, 5 interviews, and work samples, I was not hired and no one had the respect to even personalize the "No."

      Interview

They were very attentive and supportive throughout the process. I enjoyed the clear communication and the interviews themselves were welcoming and not too abrasive. The questions they asked were expected and they didn't try to trick you.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at College Board (New York, NY) in Apr 2026

      Interview

The interview process was extensive and included multiple rounds of interviews, a written exercise, a panel interview, a senior leadership interview, and professional reference checks. While the interview team was professional and provided thoughtful feedback, I was disappointed that reference checks were requested and completed before a final hiring decision was made. Reference checks require time and effort from professional contacts, and many candidates may reasonably interpret that stage as indicating they are under final consideration for an offer. Candidates should be prepared for a significant investment of time throughout the process, including the completion of a written exercise and multiple interview rounds. One positive aspect of the experience was receiving detailed and constructive feedback after the decision, which is not always common in hiring processes.

I applied online. I interviewed at College Board (New York, NY) in Jul 2024

      Interview

Straight forward and informative. Good process with feedback and follow through. Many different rounds. The whole process was about 2 months with traditional HR initial screening. I was required to meet with panel and demonstrate knowledge of the subject matter in question. Everyone was both polite and professional.
