I applied for a position at this company with extensive procurement experience and more than 15 years of professional work behind me. I really liked the role, even though it was initially only an 18-month maternity cover position with a possibility of extension.
I was fully prepared to relocate from Romania to Hungary and make all the necessary arrangements. I had interviews with two very kind ladies from Hays, after which I waited two weeks for an answer.
After those two weeks, I was told that they did not want to hire me because they did not have time to wait for me to register in Hungary.
By the way, I AM HUNGARIAN AND A HUNGARIAN CITIZEN!
I understand that my only crime is apparently being a Hungarian who happens to live in Romania, but fine. Honestly, it would have been better if they had just given me a generic AI-generated response saying I lacked experience rather than this comedy of an explanation about not being able to wait for me to register in Hungary.
In the two weeks it took them to get back to me, I could have completed that registration seven times over.
It is disappointing that companies like this are even operating in our beloved and beautiful homeland.
This embarrassment deserves to be shared across social media and in the media so that others can see how candidates are treated....
