      Product Manager Interview

      Feb 6, 2026
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Portland, OR
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I interviewed at DICK'S Sporting Goods (Portland, OR)

      Interview

It didn’t feel very formal. The person I would report to talk on the phone and got right to business. Asked the tough questions first. Acted like they didn’t want it to work out from the start.

      Question 1

If I knew about super technical things like software stacks - that weren’t mentioned in job description.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at DICK'S Sporting Goods in Jul 2025

      Interview

The first interview was a screener with a recruiter. This was very quick (maybe 20min) with the recruiter asking you several questions, then they tell you on the spot if they'd like to schedule you to meet the hiring manager. The second interview was with the hiring manager for the role. Before the interview, they sent me an email with what to prepare - "describe a product you've owned and how it worked." There are two additional steps after this, you meet with other people on the team, and then leadership.

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at DICK'S Sporting Goods (Pittsburgh, PA) in May 2023

      Interview

Beware of DSG and their new "panel" interview process. After vetting with the recruiter, I met with hiring manager who was outspokenly positive about my ability to fill the role, but the company had recently implemented a new panel interview process to meet the team. I was immediately scheduled for panel interviews over the next 3 days meeting with 6 additional directors and senior managers. All of the interviews went well, going almost an hour over the slotted time. After completing all 7 interviews, I waited two weeks just to hear back that they were going to continue searching for a candidate possessing very specific experience based on their exact version of an outdated system... this criteria was not listed in the job description or mentioned in any interviews. I spent approximately 10 hours on these interviews, received nothing but positive feedback, but I shouldn't have been scheduled for additional interviews if this specific underlying criteria was a dealbreaker.
