Daydream Apartments interview questions

I am writing with concerns of how my interview process was handled in hopes that another applicant doesn’t share a similar experience, as I found it unacceptable. I received an offer letter on Friday, October 30th at 1:48 PM following a verbal offer. I responded that evening at 7:02 PM with offer letter considerations, primarily to match my current vacation levels and cell phone allowance. Around the same time (6:52 PM), I received an E-mail from the company that there was a possible delay with the closing and that the offer letter needs to be paused. That turned out to be a lie. This was after they mentioned a sense of urgency for a quick start date and a rush to give my notice. That 5-day pause turned into an abrupt retraction of my offer letter without a valid reason. I questioned the rationale and they were vague. The company leader mentioned that Daydream wanted to go in a different direction after further discussion and reviewing my offer letter requests. This was at 8 PM at night. Yes, bad news near bedtime. I found that insensitive. Once again, they lied directly to me as eventually found out from e-mail communication. Daydream mentioned to me in writing that they decided to go with someone with more experience. I have negotiated many executive offer letters in my tenured career and find my considerations common and certainly not worthy of a complete offer letter retraction. They should have NEVER issued me the offer letter if they wanted someone with more apartment experience. This was after 6 interviews and 5 weeks! The leadership team once again said that the entire team “loved me.” The week before, the company said I was a “unicorn” and a “perfect candidate” in the team’s eyes. One wrote that I have “an impressive background and passion for hospitality.” I would be understanding if Daydream didn’t feel I was the best candidate for the apartment and their leadership team. However, I would expect the communication to be consistent and handled professionally. I questioned the poor reputation on Glassdoor and now I am realizing that this may not be isolated. My interview process started on September 29th. On November 4th, my offer letter was retracted following 6 interviews. I appreciated the consideration to be part of the Daydream team, but now thankful that I did not join a company that treats candidates this way. I encourage the Daydream team to closely evaluate my experience and realize the faults and be empathetic to the way I was handled as a candidate. I was energized by the team’s core values and the snapshot of leadership on social media. That perception certainly doesn’t mirror the way I was handled after a formal offer was extended. It is shameful and an embarrassment. I am left without answers and even more questions. I ask that Daydream does not allow this to happen with any other candidates and closely evaluate their process. I hope they agree that my experience was unacceptable, especially for a General Manager candidate. I do not recommend anyone to the Daydream team. They are a startup and have a lot of growing to do. Candidates should expect a lengthy interview process that doesn't seem to matter after hours of time dedicated. If you do receive an offer letter, it is meaningless and they will fully take advantage of the legal clause in the letter and abruptly retract the offer. They will also not hesitate to lie directly to you. Think long and hard before applying. There are much better companies out there.
