Interview
Great interviewing team and I enjoyed the interviews. Interviews were relaxed yet they took the time to find the depths of my knowledge/skills. The process took a little longer than it should do to an interviewers illness.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at DigitalOcean (Zapopan) in Jun 2023
Interview
The entire recruitment process at this company was fair and transparent, and I appreciated the warmth and kindness everyone displayed throughout. My journey began when I was approached by the company's recruiters, who provided detailed explanations about the various available positions, allowing me to choose which one to apply for. After a couple of interviews, it was determined that I might not be the best fit for the initial role I selected, a conclusion I agreed with since the position was quite different from what I initially thought. In a turn of events that showcased the company's thorough understanding of matching job roles with candidates' skills and preferences, I was invited to apply for another role that resonated more with my experiences and interests. The subsequent interview rounds were designed to evaluate real-world, practical skills rather than abstract, textbook knowledge. I particularly enjoyed the system design interview, which was structured to include about 15 minutes of open-ended questions followed by a system design exercise. The interviewer was highly approachable and facilitated an engaging conversation. The live coding interview was also notable, as it reflected the skills and challenges one would face in a day-to-day role rather than abstract, unrelated problems. The task was not overly complex, focusing instead on troubleshooting issues within a real system. I found this to be a remarkable and valuable interviewing approach. After my interviews, I had to wait for around a week and a half before receiving feedback. My understanding was that this delay was due to my interviewer being on vacation, suggesting that feedback might typically be provided sooner. Upon conclusion of the process, I received an offer that fell within an acceptable range compared to my previous salary (which was discussed during the initial screening process). Overall, it was clear that the company practices fair position management within its departments, offering an open, transparent, and well-organized recruitment process. The warm and friendly demeanor of everyone involved made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

I previously had been working with the hiring team as an alpha/beta tester so my experience may vary slightly. Started with a Q&A with the hiring manager, then a technical interview with team lead, followed by a panel with two more technical interviews and a meeting with a PM.
