I have been working at DigitalOcean full-time

    Pros

Leadership cares about me and my growth (professional and personal!). Flexible PTO policy and work hours. Great work-life balance.

    Cons

    Lack of diversity amongst leadership.

    Advice to Management

Overall, my experience at DO has been great! Keep up the excellent work. I would like to see diversity hiring made a priority in the coming year.

I have been working at DigitalOcean full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

amazingly smart people that are driven, passionate and just generally good people who care about making products and experiences that are elegant yet simple

    Cons

the company is maturing and undergoing a lot of change with a new CEO at the helm, so the path isn't always 100% clear yet, but if you thrive in a place where you can create a bit of your own destiny and don't stress about change, then no problem!

    Advice to Management

mark, you already are having a tremendously positive impact on helping this organization "grow up" so keep it coming! and please help champion diversity at the leadership level as it is lacking yet is so important.

One of the true tests of a strong culture is how much the values hold constant across organizational change. Because we are growing and scaling so quickly, change happens faster and more frequently... More

    Pros

High paced work environment, great culture and people. Awesome work/life balance for a start up.

    Cons

Remote employees don't get to experience the delicious lunches provided in NYC.

    Advice to Management

More social or work events for remote employees to close the loop on feeling isolated from the company.

I have been working at DigitalOcean full-time

    Pros

Smart people. Great lower+mid-level management. Extremely excellent remote culture. Awesome market and customers. Get to work on fun/hard problems at scale. Pays well. Great opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

Upper management hasn't been very stable, but that's not really a negative, just "not awesome".

The company is growing too, and that automatically means things change. As far as I've seen, it's usually for the better, but I understand earlier employees feeling like things are wildly different now.

    Advice to Management

None. Hope to see more stability in upper management, but it seems like that's already happening!

I have been working at DigitalOcean full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

New tech, innovation and constant push to be a big name in the cloud platform space.

    Cons

Growing fast so some processes aren't well defined or are outdated. Slows things down a bit, as a Software Engineer working here/onboarding.

    Advice to Management

Maintain an interest in employees and their career growth, even as teams and the company grows.

    DigitalOcean Response
