      Audit Interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at EY (Chicago, IL) in Feb 2018

      Interview

A few days after the application deadline, I got an email with a link for a recorded online interview. They give you three tries for each of the ten questions. You have to wear business casual and make sure you don't have any distracting background. It was my first time having to do an online interview so it was very nerve-wracking. Thankfully, at my school, we have can use interviewstream website to practice. Don't forget to practice as you only have three tries and you won't be able to charm your way through the interview if you blanked out. Five days later, I got another email saying I got chosen for the second round interview. I was asked to call the campus recruiter to verify my availability. After confirming, they sent me an email with the instructions, the agenda of the second round interview, and expense forms that EY is going to cover. You will also be assigned a host who is going to be your buddy during the interview. He/she will give you the office tour and take you to the rooms were the interviews are going to be. My host emailed me two days before the interview and told me that I can ask him any questions that I have. The second round interview was fun. It started at 8:30 with a breakfast at a hotel a couple of blocks from the office. This is where you'll meet your host and where you will be briefed on how the day is going to be like. A tax partner gave a short talk before sending the interviewees on their way. What I like about EY was they asked you to fill out a survey which basically lets them know if you have any offers from other firms and when they expire so they can provide you with the results as soon as possible. If there were no conflicts, the recruiter said that they'll let us know if we get it after two weeks. My first interview was after the breakfast when we got to the office. It was with an audit manager and she just wanted to know my personality and how I would fit in EY. It was mostly conversation as well. She didn't ask me any behavioral questions. I had the office tour after. The second interview was with an audit partner. He was nice as well and very energetic. He asked me a couple of behavioral questions. The last one asked me behavioral questions as well, but again all of these were based on what they saw on my resume. So if you are working at retail, it's going to be based on that, etc. The day ended with a group lunch. Three of us interviewees were partnered with a different hosts, but all six of us ate together. I was told the rest of the interviewees are going to a different restaurant. I got home and was thinking of how long it's going to take to hear back from EY as I have an outstanding offer from a different company that is going to expire soon. However, everything turned out okay because the partner called me in the afternoon and told me I am going to get an offer in the next four days and that he wanted to let me know as soon as he could. I was surprised by this, but was very grateful. TIP: Make sure you relax because they are too! Interviewers basically want to get to know your personality and how you are as a person, not your grades. Make sure you have questions ready for them. You can always ask the host too and they will help you as they once stood in your shoes.
