Was sourced by a recruiter for this position. The process ultimately took 5 weeks and 6 onsite interviews and still didn't get the job offer.
The first 5 interviews went very well. Potential co-workers and supervisor got me excited with collaborative conversations about what was going on in the organization and how I could contribute. Fast feedback to the recruiters confirming after each one that I was doing a great job and seemed like a good fit.
The 6th interview was totally different. First spoke with the CFO, nothing unusual from the conversation. Then interviewed by CEO. He was very defensive when I would ask questions about his leadership and vision for the organization as though I was criticizing him. Picked my resume to pieces, questioned my motivation for wanting to join the company, and asked me to defend and justify my choice to follow a career as a Project Manager in the first place.
Recruiter called back and said there were some discrepancies - I had "misrepresented" my duration of tenure with companies on my resume and mentioned employers that weren't on my resume. This was not the case, as he was writing down start and end dates on the paper copy of the resume I provided...even had me provide every supervisor's name in the last 9 years. Assumed he misunderstood? Then asked to provide extensive examples of my work documentation from my last position to prove my capability.
Let Edgenet know that I had a pending job offer with a 3 day expiration time. Edgenet was my 1st choice, but after 5 weeks and 6 interviews I hoped they could come to a decision. 1 week later I was told that I would not receive an offer, the other opportunity had expired. Reason: My would-be supervisor looked good on paper and interviewed really well, but he only lasted 5 months. Maybe I wouldn't be a good fit to the organizational culture either.
