      Business Development Manager Interview

      Nov 27, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Emma in Nov 2021

      Interview

      Business Development Manager Interview

      Neutral experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Emma (Lisbon, Lisbon District)

      Interview

Abilities test online, followed by a 1 on 1 interview with an employee, followed by recruitment day consisting of a company presentation and 2 to 3 interviews. I had an extra interview before I officially got in. The first interview is to understand whether there is a fit between the candidate and the company (although I have heard that this can change depending on who is conducting the interview). The recruitment day consists of a full afternoon (I had to take the day off from my job at the time). 2 interviews with at least one team member present in one of them and a 3rd interview if the 2 interviews go well. In this recruitment day, they give you hypothetical situations like "how would you test a product?" or "if you could choose between partnering with brand X or Y to enter a new market in country Z, which one would you choose and why?". They also give you brain teasers, going from "what's 235 divided by 8?" to those classic ones about weighing balls that all look the same but one has a different weight. I prepared well for these by googling common brain teasers. It's a matter of practice and they don't necessarily care about the answer, but rather how you get there.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Emma (Lisbon, Lisbon District) in Feb 2024

      Interview

Same as explained, first is a logical exam and then an initial interview, and then a Recruiting Day where they interview you for 4 hours straight on a Friday along with other applicants. In each interview, they challenge every single answer even if it's a fairly subjective question (ex: I mentioned liking client-facing roles and I was asked why I wasn't in Customer Service instead). I appreciated this at first but some interviewers, most particularly during Recruiting Day, are explicitly rude and will cut you off multiple times. I am not sure if this was particular to my experience with people from the Lisbon office, but 4/6 people who interviewed me were either strict or straight up rude. 1 or 2 of them left a very negative mark on me and I wanted to end the call right then and there.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Emma in Aug 2023

      Interview

The process took a few weeks starting with the resume screening. I then had to take a test, followed by an interview with my now supervisor, ending with a day of three consecutive interviews known as Emma Recruiting Day. For Emma Recruiting Day, the first two interviews are guaranteed, while the third one is dependent on whether the initial interviewers of that day see you as a fit in the company.
