I was excited to get a response from my application and was looking forward to the initial interview call. When the day came, however, I wasn't impressed with the interviewer. It was clear that this person had held other jobs at the company, and thus did not grow up in a recruiting role. As such, I think there's opportunity for more training. For TA roles, there's a balance of having solid interviewer skills while also wearing a "selling hat" and be a good representative of the company brand. Unless she was having an off day, sadly she was not engaging and her demeanor came across quite standoffish from the start of the call. I felt the call went well, and she seemed pleased with my answers to her basic questions. As we were wrapping, she said she would get back to me that same week - even mentioned the actual day, but I never heard from her. Know people get busy so I followed up twice, and then I heard a response a week later, which was via email saying the position closed, which is vague. Is it closed or was it filled? I was told to look at their website for other similar key positions that had sign-on bonuses. It's a mystery. The good thing about interviews is that they're a two-way process. The company had held promise. I'll keep an open mind and give benefit of the doubt. But, in sum wasn't impressed with the recruiter's communication or overall style.
