      Help Desk Specialist Interview

      Mar 30, 2022

      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Fidelity TalentSource in Mar 2022

      Interview

After applying, the recruiter got back to me very quickly over text message (not email). We had an initial phone interview during which the recruiter outlined the role and then asked me for personal information including last 4 digits of my SSN and birth date. She then asked me to fill out information for a background and credit check. The recruiter did specify that this was for a contracted position with the potential to be hired on as a full time employee. I had to complete a typing assessment and then I had a video interview with two members of team management a week later. The video interview was about 45 minutes long and half of it was technical questions and the other half was about my experience. The recruiter contacted me (over text) the same afternoon as my video interview and offered me a position but wanted me to accept it as soon as possible. I asked for 2-3 days to consider my options (as I was interviewing with other companies as well) and she said it would not be possible to give me more than a day. The next morning she contacted me and let me know that the team would be increasing the pay in the offer and wanted me to accept right away. She would not send me an email with an offer letter or any other information, saying it was company policy to not send an offer letter until the offer had already been accepted. When I said I still needed time to think and consider my options, she seemed upset and said that I had said that if the team raised my offer, I would accept right away. I never said that while talking to her, I had only said that the offer would be more appealing with the raise. An hour after we ended this phone conversation, she sent me a text rescinding the offer. This entire process was very rushed (there was less than 36 hours between the second interview and the recruiter rescinding the offer) and it was very stressful to have her asking me to accept an offer without receiving any sort of written communication about it. I was also very thrown off because of all the communication over text, which seems very disorganized and unprofessional to me. Overall, there were a lot of red flags throughout this interview process and I wish I had paid more attention to that before continuing with the application process.
