      Annuity Specialist Interview

      Dec 18, 2013
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Fisher Investments in Nov 2013

      Interview

I was impressed with my initial contact; less impressed with the first manager's interview; and really disappointed with the final feedback. The HR contact was quick, responsive, and informative. For example, I assumed an "annuity specialist" is someone that, well, you know... likes annuities. But I learned in the HR interview that Fisher "hates" annuities (that's a direct quote from an advertisement of theirs). The first manager's interview was pleasant enough, but not a lot of substance. I was expecting--even hoping--to get some questions about annuities (the position is an "annuity specialist", after all). But the manager was nice and I did get some good general feedback on the company. Basically, the position is a telephone service/sales position, or "99% on the phone". But it pays well for that role: $80-100k I was told. I'm not sure if the $80k is after or pre-bonus. The follow-up was the disappointing part. I was told I would get a response within a few days. So I followed-up weekly. Finally I got a response to my last email saying "I don't know why you never got our emails. Both xyz [a person I never heard of] and I have reached out to you." I promptly did an email test. No email problems.. on my end anyway.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

How will you feel about moving people out of [those crappy] annuities and into our [superior] products?

      Question 2

This was less of a question to me, but more of a response to my question. I asked if I could arrive earlier AND leave later than everyone just to avoid the traffic.
