      Technical Recruiter Interview

      Feb 22, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Walnut Creek, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Five9 (Walnut Creek, CA) in Apr 2016

      Interview

Onsite Interview after phone screen with hiring manager. Things were looking up and I only made it this far given I was reffered. I was disappointed because given I was not the color she was expecting and I was younger, I did not "look" as if I would fit into the company culture. It was obvious after speaking for an hour she was mentioning this position for only "her selection" of candidates. This was obvious because when I asked a question about something pertaining to recruiting she gave me a funny look and mentioned, "well, my candidates, they would be involved in, x, y and z." I asked if I was in this positin she did not make it appear I was included. Funny thing, I thought we had a great conversation and discussed a great depth of recruiting ideas. However, never heard anything back from her and the referral tried following up and she did not reply to them and ignored our emails. Another bias sitution with a woman in charge. I am a woman of color and it appeared to be biases and discrimination and pre judgment.

I am disappointed to learn of the way in which you feel you were treated. Five9 prides itself on being an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) company and we welcome any and all applicants for roles. The company culture that we are all a part of here is about the people and it would be a disservice to exclude someone who would be a great addition based on what you described. We do our best to provide updates and closure to applicants, especially those who meet in person with Five9ers at our headquarters in San Ramon for an onsite interview. We continually strive to improve and create an exceptional experience for our candidates. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.
