Organised and objective. It lasted approximately 20 minutes. The feedback was given within the next day, very rare for companies. The interviewer was polite and kind, making the candidate feel at ease.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Foodpairing (Ghent) in Apr 2022
Interview
- Introductory Interview (30 min.).
- Technical/Experience Interview (45 min.).
- Deep Technical Interview/Live Design Challenge (60 min.)
The design challenge is a bit unreasonable. I've designed more complex systems multiple times, but having to do this in 30 minutes, under supervision, and using tools that you are not familiar with, seems like an unfair assessment to me.
I would say that the challenge itself was reasonable, but the circumstances not. Instead, making the design challenge a take home assignment to be discussed on a later interview would have made more sense.
Also their English leans towards the broken side, which increases the challenge. But at the end of the day I reckon it makes it more realistic, given that these will be part of the actual day to day circumstances.
I endured through the whole process though, and I was very polite and patient. They were a tad arrogant, and still I smiled and was extremely nice to the very end.
However, I was ghosted by them. Didn't even get a rejection/feedback email.
I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Foodpairing (Ghent) in Dec 2021
Interview
After submitting my CV, I had to wait for a reply too long.
A good thing I was super motivated for the mission and vision of this company so when they got back to me, I was still motivated to join.
I was especially surprised about the passion of the very sincere CEO, the transparent and hands-on conversations we had made clear I could really make a difference for the team.
The inspiration, people-knowledge and constructive feedback in these interviews motivated me to start. Still happy to have joined today!!!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The best questions were case-related. I got the chance to sense what topics were to be countered in my position and got to answer them in the interviews in a way we could see how we connected basically.
