Interview

The worst interview experience ever. I had an interview with one of Foot Locker’s corporate talent acquisition team members. She was extremely rude, unprofessional, and combative during the call. I’ve interviewed many staff throughout my career and have been in many interviews myself. This has to be the worst experience I’ve had. The email communication was equally dreadful. In email, she was condescending and lacking basic email etiquette. Not surprisingly, this behavior continued into the interview itself. What should have been a fairly straight forward interview process (1st round) of gathering information, explaining the role, and selling/promoting the company and its mission/culture. Unfortunately, it was not. It was a one sided conversation with her asking questions and responding in a very combative way, whenever she could not comprehend the answer/response. It took patience and exercising emotional intelligence to not simply end the conversation in the middle of the call (I was very close, it would have been a first). I was so shocked, that immediately after the call, I revisited this person’s Linkedin profile to see how long she has been with the company. All companies can have bad employees, so I thought, perhaps this is just a new employee that has not been coached/developed or removed yet. Unfortunately, she has been with Foot Locker for more than 5 years. Given this awful experience, and the fact that she has been with the company for so long, I have to assume this is the culture and behavior within the walls of this company. If this is the first touchpoint potential employees have, they have a serious problem. I will not be pursuing this employer, as I can already assume with confidence that this might turn out to be an awful experience and one where I would want to leave after only a few months. If the culture in the company is toxic, it is very hard to change and one where you will not thrive, but simply try to survive. Your health is more important and there are plenty of better companies out there. Luckily, Glassdoor provides a platform to share these experiences to help and inform others. I cannot recommend pursuing this company based on this experience. Do your own research on Glassdoor for comments like these, and find a company with not only a great product, but a great culture, values, high caliber employees, and professional talent acquisition teams. This one does not appear to be it. This review was written both for the potential employee, as well as, the company’s HR department. I hope this experience is not the norm and I hope they weed out this bad culture before it takes root (if not already). With remote workers, I understand the challenge, but these people are the first point of interaction with your organization. It’s critical that you don’t have the wrong people in these roles. Unfortunately, in this case, it appears there is at least one.

It was pretty intimidating at first. Usually it's a group interview and if you dont really answer to there liking they won't consider you right away. They usually ask 3-4 questions before sending you off, and keeping the candidates they want working for them

Interview

The interview started great, with the Store Manager leading the interview. I think that the Store Manager was overwhelmed by me and soon the District Manager came over and started interviewing me. The District Manager berated me with very tough questions, but they made me think back and critically, so it wasn't an overall bad experience.

Really easy, group interview, fill out clipboard. Would not do again. I was surprised by how easy it was. You have to be dumb as a brick to not get hired.
