      Interview

A number of interviews and background checks will be conducted on you. Before I was informed that I had been employed, I think I have 6 or 7 interviews. It is a very tedious and unnecessary process.

Not hiring right now, but when they are interviewing can be a long process but weeds out people who can’t hold conversations or won’t respond well to training and coaching

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at GEICO (Getzville, NY)

      Interview

I applied multiple times before finally getting a response to schedule a phone interview. And it's a hassle because you can only apply once every six months. I had my phone interview on a Friday and was brought in to do computer testing and a possible face-to-face interview on Monday. I'd heard from others that the whole process was quite long and could even take weeks to months to complete all the steps. I went in, completed the fairly basic and not-too-challenging computer test - meanwhile, another prospect failed it - I'm honestly not sure how. They repeatedly say that the test is meant to overwhelm, but I didn't feel that even once. I then moved onto a face-to-face interview, where I was told I was being considered for a totally different department than the phone recruiter said. I went along with it - I didn't feel like I had a choice - and answered some more questions with this recruiter. After "passing" this step, I did a role-play interview where I was given information about a service I would be trying to sell to prospective customers (a car detailing service). The previous recruiter called in three times as different customers, and I had to sell them on the service, especially focusing on selling upgrades. The next step was taking a tour of the sales floor and sitting in with another sales agent so I could listen in on calls. After 45 minutes of that, a supervisor asked me yet more questions (almost all the same as the previous recruiters had done). "Passing" this stage, he went to find another supervisor then came back with an official job offer. So for a process that some say takes weeks, I completed all in about two days. All I had to do was come back a day later to fill out the paperwork with HR, then the on-site nurse cut some of my hair to send for a drug test.

      Question 1

I'm coming from trying to find a job in a totally unrelated field, so the supervisor asked me, "If you found a job (in that field) in the next six months, would you go back to that?"
