      Marketing Director Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at GEICO

      Interview

Met with recruiter. Expected the next step to be with the hiring manager, as that is what is typical, but I was put in front of a panel. The panel asked me a lot of questions about what I would do in the position rather than about my applicable experience. This was rather subjective because I hadn’t met with the hiring manager yet, so other than the job description, I felt I lacked the context to answer their questions objectively. Like I can’t tell you how to improve your processes if I haven’t experienced them or been explained them. One of the persons interviewing me I think would have been my direct report? I don’t know because it was never explained to me who I was meeting with. Also one of the people interviewing me was on their phone the whole time. I saw more of the top of their head than their face.
