The application process itself was fast, taking less than 2 weeks from the initial online application to the eventual decision.
After applying online, I received an e-mail the following day to set up a first telephone interview. This interview took about 30 minutes and was rather laid back (general questions on my CV, my interest in GLG and their company). Make sure, however, to know GLG's business model as this is unique and very important to the company. In a second phone interview, I had to prove my language skills - since I applied for a position which entailed English and a regional language. This was quite similar to the first interview.
The next round consisted of a 60-minute case study which had to be completed from home. After being sent instructions, I had to find potential experts online and explain why I chose them.
The final stage was a round of 3 in-house interviews with different members of the office. This is also where my case study was evaluated. The interviews took about 30 minutes each. As for interview questions, they were pretty much what you would expect. Overall, the interviewers were more than fair and they made sure that you felt comfortable. Again, they seemed very focussed on GLG's business model, so be prepared to explain it in detail. At this point, it felt like the interviewers mainly wanted to make sure that you are a good fit for the company and will be able to thrive in this environment.
I received a standardised e-mail 2 days later that I did not get the position without, however, getting an explanation as to why - which was slightly frustrating since the interviews and their preparation required a decent amount of my time and efforts. This would be my only criticism of the entire application process. Although I trust the interviewers to know best who would be successful at GLG, I would have appreciated a more detailed e-mail or a 2-minute call with constructive criticism. Therefore, I do not know for certain what I could have done differently.
I am sure GLG would be a great place to start for recent graduates. Still, it seems like you really need to convince them that you will fit into their culture.
