I have been working at GLG full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Coming from a large organization of 75,000+ employees, GLG is a dream company to work for. The work is stimulating and challenging, people are incredibly friendly, and there are opportunities for rapid growth if you put in the work and show your value. The benefits that GLG provides are also vast and on-par with larger companies with much deeper pockets, which shows that management truly cares about the well-being of...

    Cons

Things are changing rapidly, which could be viewed as a con to some. Depending on how willing you are to change as the company changes, there is definitely room to add more onto your plate and advance quickly through the company, so it really is what you make of it.

    Advice to Management

Continue listening to employee feedback! It has improved tremendously over the years and it is exciting to be part of a company where senior management takes an active approach to employee commentary.

I have been working at GLG full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

GLG truly has a remarkable business model and mission: Bringing the power insights to every great professional decision. It's rare to find a company that works with the world's most influential business men and women and rarer yet to be seen as thought partners on complex business problems. GLG allows young professionals to shine and to flex their creative and consultative muscles.

    Cons

Efforts to bolster the L&D program are being rolled out, which would help employees progress nicely through there careers. The company is also going through considerable changes, all for the better, but it may make working here a but turbulent. All the changes are with the intention of making GLG a better place to work and to increase GLG's value to its clients.

    Advice to Management

Focus on retaining the brilliant folks at GLG!

I worked at GLG full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

GLG is a company of continuous improvement. I've admired how much that company has changed in the nearly 4 years that I had been there. It looks and feels completely different, from 2015. In a good way! I think taking an approach of continuous improvement is something that GLG-ers should take to heart personally and professionally as it is a great approach to taking a critical look at what's working, what can be working...

    Cons

There is still some room for improvement, especially in terms of clear job responsibilities and expectations for night/weekend work. GLG is not a 9-5 job (in a good way) it keeps you busy and challenges you. But just make sure everyone knows the benefit of those challenges and has the opportunity to recharge.

    Advice to Management

Continue to take a step back and ask "what can we be doing better?" Hire and promote individuals who are 'new' to GLG instead of legacy GLG leaders who can provide a "fresh perspective" on how you can improve. Continue to peel back the curtain. The coolest thing about GLG is understnading how valuable your work is to our client's lives. Make sure every GLG-er knows that. Good luck!

I worked at GLG full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

As with any job, the coworkers you're surrounded with are a key component of your overall experience. This is an area where GLG wins out - historically hiring bright and driven individuals with impressive pedigrees. Much of the talent funnel overlaps with the bank/consulting recruiting pool. This benefit extends beyond professional development as the cohort model brings tons of new grads all together where making friends...

    Cons

Bottom line - there are truth in the numbers here when it comes to the negative reviews on glassdoor. While many are clearly biased, there are a few key clear cons to highlight: - The work itself - the work at GLG is incredibly monotonous. The ever-changing metrics driven mandates create an inherent disincentive to dive deep and engage with the work you're presented with. Leaders respond to this almost entirely with...

I have been working at GLG full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Really smart, funny, interesting coworkers. Flexible work hours and location for some departments (I primarily work from home). My interview process was a dream, and took less than a week, start to finish. I feel respected by most* people in my department, which is sadly rare as an Assistant. And though I'm fairly new, I've been impressed by the leadership I've seen so far. It's nice to be part of a company that is profitable...

      Cons

I'm still figuring out work/life balance, as emails and IMs come in at all hours and I feel some pressure to respond. It's been a steep learning curve to figure out what all of the internal acronyms and jargon means, and sometimes asking one question yields 10 more questions instead of clarification. The company culture is a little more corporate and buttoned-up than what I'm used to coming from start-ups and entertainment,...

      Advice to Management

Hire more EAs and standardize the level at which execs get support (SVP and above, C-Level only, etc).

Great people, although attrition is at an all-time high. Benefits are decent

      Cons

Management has done a terrible job of promoting people based off merit. This has lead to terribly high attrition and decaying company culture.

      Advice to Management

Hire more experienced people and treat them well. Stop promoting people based on tenure at GLG.

Well. If I have to think hard about this that pretty much sums it up huh. If you absolutely need a job, like this is your last resort. Still reconsider one more time. You get closer with your coworkers through all the pain you go through together. There are a lot of brilliant people here.

      Cons

      1. Metrics. Metrics. Metrics. Where to begin? At the company town halls, the CEO reassured the employees that metrics would not be the defining feature of an employee's evaluation. Well, that was a lie (enter meme here). If you go to several of the job descriptions you see: -Appreciation for the role data and metrics play in growing a business successfully -Excel in a fast-paced, metrics-driven, entrepreneurial, and...

      Advice to Management

Look. It's fine to have goals to be a tech platform company. It's your company so you can run it however you want. Just be up front with the people you try to hire. You want people that recruit 24/7? That's fine, just tell them that. You wan't people to phone accept all day? That's fine, find that person. You want to run the company on metrics? Sure go ahead, just tell it like it is. You have a serious issue with employee...

There are enough miserable employees, that you band together and form strong friendships.

      Cons

GLG is a cult, treats employees like cattle, herding us from team to team. In my 1.5 years at GLG I have been on 5 different teams, partly because everyone hates it so much that they leave, and partly because GLG just ushers you around with zero regards for you and your career and what you may want to get out of the experience. The good thing is, you are considered a veteran if you have been there for more than 1.5...
