Glassdoor Review: My Interview Experience with Gartner NOTE: While I believe I’ve received a verbal offer, I have yet to receive or sign an official written offer as of the date of this review. I also understand that some visitors of this site tend to question the authenticity of highly positive reviews, but I assure you this is my genuine experience. TL;DR: Gartner has one of the best interview processes I’ve encountered. Their style is transparent, efficient, and refreshingly supportive. My Interviewing Experience with Gartner: Nowadays, many larger firms can appear indifferent or unforgiving towards experiences of a job candidate, sometimes requiring 6+ rounds of interviews, countless personality and skill assessments, or case studies showcasing requirements that are at most adjacent to the actual requirements of the role. While these practices can be beneficial and serve purpose in some cases, Gartner does not strictly subscribe to this exhausting interview trend and rigorous evaluation philosophy. Instead, they rely on a seasoned team of recruiters and skills assessors to efficiently evaluate candidates with professionalism, mutual respect, and clear expectations. For this role, I only went through two formal interviews (outside of a screening call and a prep call). Here's a breakdown: 1. Initial phone screening (30 min): Basic Q&A on my background, compatibility, and an overview of the role. 2. First official interview with a Gartner recruiter (1.5 hrs): More in-depth questions on background and fit, plus some experiential and behavioral-based interview (BBI) questions. 3. Final interview prep call (30 min): A scheduled prep session aimed solely at helping me succeed in the final interview. 4. Second official and final interview with a Gartner skills assessor (1.5 hrs): Primarily focused on BBI questions and a role-playing or "coaching" exercise. What really impressed me was the support I received throughout the process. Before each interview, I was given ample prep resources via email and the candidate portal, including details on the types of questions to expect, a STAR method guide for answering BBI questions, and tips on the role-play session. I even had the option for a second prep call before the final interview, which I accepted. One of the standout moments for me was the transparency. At the end of the final interview, I was given an exact timeline of when I'd hear back. No ghosting, no ambiguity—just clear communication on next steps. That said, interviewing at Gartner isn’t without its challenges. Some BBI questions can be tough, and the role-playing exercises may throw you a curveball. For these reasons, I'd rate Gartner's interview difficulty for this position as average to challenging/difficult. My advice: prepare thoroughly. Research common BBI questions, practice role-playing scenarios, and familiarize yourself with Gartner's business. I also found it helpful to read through Gartner research studies involving topics that resonated with me to better connect with their work. Though I’m early in my career, I’ve had enough interview experiences to confidently say that Gartner is a leader in terms of interview efficiency and candidate care.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Gartner (Irving, TX) in Jun 2026

      Interview

The first round was a 30-minute recruiter call focused on my background and experience. The second was a one-hour behavioral interview covering the role and company. The final round was one-hour and 30-minutes. The questions were similar to the second round but included a role-play exercise. Throughout the process, a major focus was on coachability and how well I could apply feedback given during the interviews.

      Interview

I had the first screening so far, waiting to hear ack if they're moving forward with my application. The recruiter was friendly and professional. The questions started easy and as the interview progressed, became a bit more difficult. Questions about real experiences with metrics in previous roles, why Gartner and behaviors questions.
