      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at General Mills (Minneapolis, MN) in Jun 2016

      Interview

I submitted my resume for Digital data scientist on GM career portal by friday. Got telephonic interview scheduled with hiring manager on next week friday and got onsite interview scheduled on subsequent week thursday. At the end of onsite interview, I was also given a bag of General Mills goodies (cookies, cereal snacks and so on). I was also offered the job on next monday. The process took 4 weeks but appeared quick.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      1. Telephonic Interview: The hiring manager gave overview of his team and their roles. a) Introduce yourself (2 mins) b) In your current work, explain the usecase using an example for the recent work on personalization (took 20 minutes to explain) c) Any questions to him 2. Onsite interview: 8 rounds of Interview meeting one person in every round. They carried a questionnaire and noted my response. Everyone gave overview of their role before interviewing me. Some of the questions were overlapping and caused confusion when I was responding because I was thinking if I answered already or not :) a) Case Study (20 pages) - About Project Sunrise initiative in FY13 for General Mills. I was supplied with News highlights, financials, market research data and 6 questions were listed for me to provide answers around the business plan for new initiative. 90 minutes in total. You will given printout of the case and asked to type the response in a word document. No internet usage allowed. Calculator/stationeries provided. b) Review of Case study response with Hiring manager - I was asked to give my approach on case study and walkthrough the answers with justifications. Where do you want to be in 10 years? c) Interview with Director/Audience Sales Manager/CRM manager/HR/Global consumer insights senior manager/HR wrapup (Casual Lunch with Senior Analyst) - Brief Background Three strengths/Skill you will bring to the team Explain a situation where you had to convince leadership when they reject your opinion How would you present a data science story to a non-technical or different audience group Three accomplishments in the recent work Is there a case where everyone believed X as output and predictive model gave newer insight altogether?
