I applied online. The position was put on hold for a while due to budget issues and the winter holidays. After a few months, I heard back and had a phone interview. From there, I had two Zoom interviews: a one-on-one and panel interview. The last interview was in person and included a tour of the department. At no point during the interview process did anyone from HR tell me the salary range. The job description said that the salary was commensurate with experience. I received an offer that was not "commensurate with experience" and was significantly below market value. I declined the offer and encouraged the public listing of pay bands in the job posting to ensure a mutual fit with the employee and employer from the start.
