      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gilead Sciences (Foster City, CA) in Nov 2012

      Interview

Phone screen from recruiter, then HR rep, then hiring manager. HR rep invited me for an in-person interview. In person interview consisted of about 15 people during the course of the day, including 2 during lunch and several phone interviews. Hiring manager was changed by time of in-person interview (which I actually felt better about). During the course of the day, I came to realize that I'd be working twice as hard for essentially the same salary with little or no chance of advancement and a significant hit to work-life balance. I also learned, and observed, that this is a pretty joyless place--people were friendly and civil enough, but it seems like getting people to crack a smile would be a hard-won reward. People just come in, do their work, and leave. And since this company seems to operate on the "lean and mean" business model, it means everyone has way too much work. I was grateful for the opportunity to interview, but I won't be pursuing this any further.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gilead Sciences (Foster City, CA) in Oct 2024

      Interview

HR screening and hiring manager zoom interview were really quick and smooth. The schedule of group panel zoom interview was immediately followed. Group panel interviews were lengthy (a-week long) with a few rescheduling. Suspect that Gilead has a interview question pools. Some questions were tough to answer, either need real hand-on experience or good at communication soft skills. The interview team was professional and the offer was given out within 1-2 days after the last zoom interview.
