      Marketing Communications Manager Interview

      May 4, 2009
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Sydney
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Google (Sydney) in Dec 2008

      Interview

Initially applied for the role but never heard back. Used a contact to pass my information on the recruiter. Had an initial phone interview and was invited for a 1:1 interview on site. Reception not polite, directed me to a sign-in screen and printer and told me wait. Interview was running late, but at least the recruiter was friendly. Interview lasted for about 20 minutes, and was never contacted back, even though I phoned to check the status of the role several times afterwards. Finally got a reply, but it was an email to rate their interview process. Never heard back, not even a "Sorry you didn't get the role". Am much glad that I didn't get the role. Wouldn't have taken it, even if it was offered. Had high thinking of Google before but the interview process changed that. No, it's not sour grapes. I've been to several interviews at large international companies. This was the worst interview ever. The engineering departments are excellent to work in, but the marketing or communication teams are not.
