      Fulfillment (CX) Manager Interview

      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Gusto (Denver, CO)

      Interview

After submitting a resume online, I was contacted by a recruiter for a brief phone screener. After this was another 1-hour phone interview with the person who would be my direct supervisor. I was then brought in for 2 separate on-site interview sessions - a total of 7-8 more hours of one-on-one interviews. I then was asked to prepare a homework assignment to solve a leadership challenge, then was brought back in to discuss it, another 2 hour session. I was told that I was in the "home stretch" by a recruiter and all of my feedback was positive. Then, out of the blue 4 days later I was left a voicemail saying that I was no longer under consideration for the role, the feedback being that I didn't have the experience they were looking for. I have never posted an interview review on Glassdoor before, but I want other applicants to know that Gusto will waste your time for months, then suddenly walk away without explanation. I got the impression that they are extremely gun shy about hiring managers because they had negative experiences - this is due to them hiring for "fit" not ability or leadership skills. My experience was pretty personalized and positive until it wasn't. Now I've tried to contact them for feedback and they people with whom I built relationships over months refuse to respond to me. The feedback they gave could have been determined after the 1 hour phone interview, yet they continued to waste my time without any constructive feedback. Honestly, I would be very wary of Gusto.
