The interview process at ZenPayroll was pretty seamless at the beginning. I applied online and had an email conversation which was followed up by two phone screens (one casual, one technical). They then sent me a coding challenge that was to be completed to demonstrate my coding abilities. This is where the interview fell apart. At the time I had basically two full-time jobs: freelancing, and finding a new job.
I was busy every hour of every day working on interviewing with places, and the coding challenge that they sent over was so large in scope that I just did not have the time to complete it all the way (I had spent roughly 5 hours on it) I sent over what I had and tried to explain my situation, but was responded to with an email from them that said "when seriously applying for a job, you should make time to prepare for and complete the assignment". That's word for word what was said to me. They had no respect for my time or even enough respect to send an empathetic email. I was beyond disappointed as our recent conversations were great and ZenPayroll seemed like a wonderful place to work.
As this seems to be the most common complaint for every interview here, I really hope the folks at ZenPayroll can fix this issue and have a little more respect for individual's time when applying.
