      Customer Advocate Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Gusto

      Interview

The interview process with ZenPayroll has been quite fun. I initially applied online for the Customer Advocate position and within 2 days got a response from a recruiter for the next steps. The next process was a one-way interview on Spark Hire, which was a first for me, but was quite fun. You have an unlimited amount of attempts to answer 5 questions. You are given the opportunity to perfect you answers which was definitely a good thing. After the one-way interview, the recruiter got back to me with 2 days again and informed me of a take home test that needed to be completed. I've seen the complaints about this but thought it was quite fun to work through. The answer to one of the questions was on their website so that was a no brainer. As far as the other questions, a little google research and some reading helps you complete the test. The test is all part of what you'll be tasked to do as a Customer Advocate and was not overwhelming. Again within 2 days the recruiter got back to me informing me that I had done well on the test and was invited for an in person interview. The interview itself was not nerve wracking but quite casual and informal. You meet with 3 members of the Customer Advocate team including the Manager of the team. They were easy going and down to Earth individuals that are definitely there to help you. Overall my interview process with ZenPayroll has been a fun experience. Great team and definitely a helpful recruiter. No offer yet but definitely a company to keep an eye out for.

      Interview

the interview process was quick - i was contacted by HR to schedule a phone call - i was contacted a few days later by one of the managers in the department - questions were easy and general - contacted by HR to complete an at-home assignment, submitted assignment and i was then invited to the office for in-person interviews with four team members - spoke to each for about 20 minutes and one was solely on the company culture - found out a few days later that i received the job.

The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Gusto

      Interview

The first thing I want to say is this: don't ever let everyone else's opinion shake you away from something. I've read a lot of negative reviews about this process and I have not felt negative about it yet, in fact it's been very timely. They keep reminding you of their "transparency" and that they believe in not wasting anyone's time. I applied through the website and was contacted the day after. I had a date and a time for a 30 minute phone chat before noon. The 30 minute chat was actually more like 45, the gentleman I was talking to was very friendly. By the end of the interview I felt really good and he said he would "talk to his team" and either he would "send me an assignment" or "let me know otherwise". Three hours later I was sent the assignment. The assignment was rigorous and I spent a great deal of time on the first question, but it was okay because the last two questions were easy to find online and through the website. I turned my assignment in, and the next morning I received an email from the same recruiter asking if I could go into the office for a 3 hour interview the next week, again stating if that at any point they felt as though the position wasn't a good fit for me it would be cut short. This interview was not intimidating and I enjoyed meeting the three gentleman. Very standard interview questions and and it's clear what kind of candidate they are looking to hire. No offer yet, but I hope to hear back from the company. All in all, I've not felt the process to be impersonal at all.

      Interview

Honestly, it was a good experience even though I did not get the job. After a phone interview they gave me an assignment which did not quite meet their standards. I do believe everything on the assignment could have easily been taught to me even though it did not come as naturally at first (I am a bad test taker!) It really caught me off guard. I wrote them asking what went wrong and the man I had been in contact with sent me an awesome email explaining the pros and cons throughout my process. I really appreciated this because most companies drop you like third period french once they have decided not to hire you. So, thank you ZenPayroll for the productive and constructive feedback. I am ready and willing to learn if you ever reached back out to me. I truly believe in your mission.
