I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at H E B in Sep 2012
Interview
Very lengthy, bring patience, went through 4 interviews before being selected. Process took almost a month. No indication of whether you make the next round. Call backs in about 5 days after interview. Interview process starts with department manager, then works its way up to store manager. Questions are pretty much standard, i.e. tell me about yourself, why do you want to work here, where do you see yourself in 5 years.

Question 1
If there was one thing you think you could improve about yourself what would it be?
Called me in for an interview knowing I had no overnight experience and no stocking experience but declined to give me an offer because of this, or so they say. I would say it's more likely they saw I was short and a little chubby and instantly discriminated against me physically, assuming I could not do the job. Then kicked me over to the Deli guy for an impromptu interview. Both ghosted me afterwards. Honestly pretty unprofessional behavior.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at H E B (Baytown, TX)
Interview
Pretty easy I got asked all the same questions that you would at any other interview like “describe a time where you had to work as a team” only reason I didn’t get the job is because they wanted someone to work a full 8 hour shift and I just wanted to work 4 max.

Interview
I applied online and 2 weeks later received a call from a manager for an interview. In my opinion, the interview went well and manager seemed excited for me to join the team. Afterwards, I heard nothing for several days. I called back and was told job was given to an internal applicant.
