The initial discussion was with one of the co-founders. This was a fifteen minute call. He basically understood my background and what kind of work I had done.
For the next round, I had to go to the HackerRank Office for a series of face to face interviews.
The first two rounds were with the product managers. The next round was with one of the co-founders. The last two rounds were with engineers.
The interviews were a mix of technical questions and scenarios and how I would make UI decisions. The best part was that they show-cased their product and asked me what did I think about it and how to improve it.
They were really interested in what I thought, what is it that I want to do, and how best I would fit in.
The HR arranged for lunch and made sure that I was comfortable during the entire interview.
As I visited the office, I got a feel of the work culture there. The office was alive and buzzing with energy and ideas.
Based on the people, I interacted with, I felt that it was a very flat organization and anyone could talk to anyone.
After this, the creative director from US also called and spoke to me. She wanted to make sure that I understood the company, the product, and my role.
Overall it was a very positive experience. At the end, I was pleasantly surprised when the HR handed me a cool blue HackerRank tshirt :)
