I went through the first stage of the interview process and then removed myself as a candidate.
The interview itself was pretty normal, just a conversation over Skype with someone from HR. The reason I removed myself is that they were expecting me to do a 3-day design exercise, which would have been to do some design work on their actual product.
As someone who's done design hiring before, you can use other methods to determine if a candidate has good ideas and good design skills. Asking for a three-day exercise is just too much and shows a lack of respect for a candidate's time. It also biases your interview pool toward people who have a lot of free time (i.e. younger people rather than people with families or other commitments).
