Thank you for your feedback. We do look over portfolios carefully, but it is very hard to tell if a portfolio was made in school, or highly influenced by a prior creative director's vision, or the artist themselves. The logo also allows some artists to shine as they may have not had the opportunity to do more creative work in their prior jobs. As a point of reference we ask all designers to create the same two fictitious logos before interviewing, that gives us a common benchmark evaluate artists and their skill level.
