      Recruiter Interview

      Sep 29, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Singapore
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Singapore) in Aug 2020

      Interview

The process took more than a month. I was approached by the Hiring Manager for the role. It started pretty well. The first conversation happened within a week and the next round was 2 weeks later. The third round took another two weeks with a lot of back and forth with coordination since she was based in the US. We lost a lot of time. Overall, it was a very inefficient process. For a basic recruiter role, they had 6+ rounds and so many candidates in the final stages. Throughout the process I was given positive and strong feedback that my candidature is really strong. However, after the final round, they took an additional week and a half to come to a decision. Actually, they did not have a decision but I forced them to make one since I had another offer in hand. I told the recruiter I cant wait another day. To which she asked me if I can hold off on the other offer and was also asked for my salary expectations/negotiation. One would think I made it only to discover the next day I didn't get the role and got no feedback why. They've got some serious improvements to make in their recruitment process. 1. Become efficient: Know what level you are hiring for and make the interview process crisp and concise. I met 2 interviewers twice during the process. What was the point or need for it? You can have panel rounds instead if you want to involve the whole world in the process. 2. Get a Recruitment coordinator in region 3. STOP giving candidates false hopes that they are getting the job. Making a candidate feel great throughout the process only to be turned down for no valid reason doesn't leave a good impression. I was excited about this company but the experience has left a bitter taste. Please STOP wasting your time and the candidate's time :)

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, and I'm sorry your experience fell short of your expectations. One of the great things about working on our APAC team is the opportunity to collaborate cross-region - the challenge with that is that time zone differences can draw the interview processes out a bit longer to meet a global panel of interviewers. In terms of feedback, that is absolutely something you should have gotten both throughout the process and as we ultimately decided not to move forward, so if that wasn't the case, please reach out to me at beckym at hubspot dot com - I'd welcome the opportunity to dig in and give you specific feedback on why we didn't move forward. Regardless of the outcome, thank you for investing time in our process and in getting to know us, and for the pushes on where we can get better on logistics and coordination. Best, Becky

      Interview

Started process with a phone screening lasting about 30/35 minutes with a recruiter. Next step was interview with one of the hiring managers. They were 15 minutes late, spent the majority of the interview reading something on another screen, did not seem to be listening to me as I had to clarify aspects of my previous job on more than one occasion as they kept claiming incorrect things about my job. They also mentioned they had “talked to a a lot of people who worked in my company” and again stated incorrect things about my experience they had just assumed for some reason. At the end they told me they would read over the answers I gave that were recorded by the AI note taker and make her decision. Didn’t seem to be listening and seemed to have just had an idea in her head based on talking to someone else in a different department in my old job and wasn’t bothered to consider I might be doing something different.
