      Inbound Sales Representative Interview

      Jan 10, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot in Dec 2015

      Interview

I had been referred by an employee for a position. I got a call almost immediately after submitting my online application. Had a pretty straight forward conversation with the employee recruiter, but at the end of the conversation he offered me a different job than the one I had applied for. Since I had a lot of experience in this field as well I decided to accept as my employee friend told me it's pretty easy to move around once inside. They scheduled me for a phone interview which went well, basic interview 101 questions, which the interviewer said had gone great. I get a call back from the same recruiter to prep me for the in person interview because the previous interviewer had had some concerns (why did she say it went great then?). The in person interview was long, 5 people who basically asked the same questions. Each interviewer said it went great. I voiced my opinion about wanting to move up to a management position as that was the original position I had applied for, and now I was interviewing for a call center position. They tell you everything was great you should start next week if everything goes well. Don't get a call that evening as they had promised so reached out the next day only to be told that they were going to pass because I was more enthusiastic about moving up in rank than about the entry level call center position. its a pretty fake interview process, they are looking for the candidate that says the things they want to hear, not what they actually think.

Really sorry to hear that it didn't work out, and that you felt we were looking for one specific answer versus understanding the breadth of your experience in context. We are continuing to improve our processes to ensure that you don't get asked the same questions multiple times and so that you hear back during the time window promised, so this feedback will help us get better at both. Sincerely, Katie

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Dublin, Dublin) in Mar 2023

      Interview

It was a structured interview with introduction, experience and scenario questions. Unfortunately the manager was terrible. She looked and sounded like she didn’t want to be there. After the interview I got feedback (which is in general nice), however the feedback I got did not match at all with the interview/answers given during the interview. Either the hiring manager did pay zero attention or I got mixed up with another candidate. Both is pretty frustrating and makes the company look like an unprofessional place to work and I probably dodged a bullet.
