      Quality Assurance Associate Interview

      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Hyland

      Interview

The process was very simple. I applied online and was contacted within 2 weeks for an interview. My first interview was over the phone with an HR Recruiter. She asked a lot of behavioral questions, with only one technical question. The second phone interview was with the Hiring Manager. The manager asked a lot of behavioral based questions. The questions were focused on situations, If you see a co-worker stealing what would you do? How have you dealt with difficult co-workers? What stresses you out? The third interview was in person with two managers. I first took a written test. I was given 30 minutes to complete. The test is designed to not be completed. The first part asks to list 5 things in order of personal priority, work, getting along with co-workers, honesty, and a few more I no longer recall. The next section was on different troubleshooting issues and how to resolve them, then SQL questions on SQL commands, creating a chart based on the information provided, then a final question that you could pick where you describe in detail how to do a task, like tie shoes, make a sandwich, ect. The two individual interviews with the managers had a bit more stress and questions about what you knew, mixed with a lot of behavioral questions were presented. A lot more firm interview and making sure to keep the questions coming to see when you would crack or how you handle the stress were in the interview. A week later an background check was conducted that included work history, credit rating, criminal background. Once this completed and offer was extended and accepted. Best advice to offer is to be prepared for the interview. Come in eager to be apart of the company and very willing to learn. Do not act like you know everything or act like you are better than everyone in the room. I was not the most qualified person for the job. I knew one person that applied had 5 years Quality Assurance experience and he did not get a job offer. I would also suggest knowing how Behavioral questions work and why they are presented. Then be prepared to answer these types of questions, with consistent answers this will benefit in getting the job but also be used to weigh a pay rate for the employee.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Hyland (Westlake, OH) in May 2014

      Interview

I submitted an application through the OnBase website on May 4th, and received an email the 6th to come to their Westlake office for an Interview Session on the 29th of May. The interview process was broken up into several parts. The first part consisted of an interview with two members of the QA department. We went over various questions about my current position and what I hoped to get out of working at Hyland. The entire time felt very relaxed, and I was able to talk to them earnestly without feeling anxious. It went so well, that we went over our allotted time slot of a half hour very easily. The next part was an interview with a member of HR. This was a little more difficult for me, as it went through a more standard interview questioning process. Despite this, it was still a fairly easy interview and I felt comfortable asking any question that came to mind. The third and final part of the day involved a technical test. In this test, an employee sat across from me and watched my monitor while I was asked basic technical questions (Copy/Paste, Command Line, How to check OS/Devices). There were about 60 questions that were able to be easily answered within the half hour time period. The following week I received a follow up from another member from HR to do a more involved assessment. I was given an email attachment that contained basic HR/QA/SQL questions. (Find the errors on the screenshot, create a test plan, rate the following traits in order of importance and why). The following day, I received an email with a tentative job offer pending a background check. The day after that, I received a temporary log-in for the PreTrax background check information. This included education and previous job history. The background check was completed in about 10 days, and an official job offer was given after that. The salary given was in line with the salary for the field, and was higher than my expectations coming from New England where the cost of living is much higher.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Hyland (Westlake, OH) in Oct 2012

      Interview

3 parts: HR, QA, and a Technical interview. Each one was pretty standard. The technical interview dealt with hands-on completing simple tasks on a computer (open the windows explorer, find the IP of this computer, etc.). The QA portion was problem solving and personality questions/background. HR was pretty standard HR-y stuff.
