      Entry Level Java Developer Interview

      May 2, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Montreal, QC
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at IBM (Montreal, QC) in Jan 2018

      Interview

Online interview, indicating behavioral questions and in-depth technical knowledge questions of Java programming. You are not recorded on camera. Straightforward stuff, rather difficult however if unprepared. I suggest you study up on your Java and know your standard behavioral answers.

      Entry Level Java Developer Interview

      Nov 25, 2014
      Anonymous employee
      East Lansing, MI
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 12 months. I interviewed at IBM (East Lansing, MI) in Jul 2013

      Interview

The interview process composed of a short phone interview and an on-site interview, the on-site interview was split into a business interview and technical interview. All three interviews where with separate managers. The phone interview was short and mostly involved questions about prior work experience and skills and I was required to do an online math quiz although I was told it rarely mattered in the process. The business interview was questions about my ability to react correctly in specific business situations(ie "How did you react when a customer or client did this..."). The technical interview wasn't much of an interview but a lesson where the manager asked me a question and explained in detail what I wasn't completely sure of. Others being interviewed got handed code and told to determine what it did. I was told prior to the on-site interview to understand polymorphism and inheritance. The process was difficult for me and many others that got hired on at the same time because IBM functions differently in regards to bench time. Because of this I had my phone interview roughly a month after applying, the on-site interviews a month later, being told my start date was the next month, and then being told I was pushed back over and over again. I finally was sitting at my desk almost a year after the on-site interview. Being pushed back from what I hear is common but I was a rare case many people told me.
