Recruiter reached me over LinkedIn. Asked for current and expected salary. Then she arranged two rounds of technical interviews. Then she asked to fill job application forms for "operating systems architect". After filling, arranged hiring manager round where he offered band 7B. He told that's the maximum band they could offer for my experience and hence offered lower salary than my current salary. I believed him and hence agreed. Now the game started. They had filled one other application form for "operating systems develeoper" on my behalf without my consent. Released offer letter and Recruiter was after me to accept it urgently. I accepted the offer. In the next weekend, I researched about the company and role, realized it's below my potential or experience. Initiated a chat with Recruiter asking for change of band. She said she would comeback after discussing it with HM. Then she started not responding to my calls. I initiated a thread of email discussion with HRs where they just replied they are still discussing it with HM. They spent almost 2months like this. In the end, we parted ways.
My advise: HRs and HMs, please be advised that candidate will do their research before joining. And be honest with the candidates especially when you are offering less than expected. Don't waste candidates time.
