I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at IKEA (Paramus, NJ) in Nov 2010
Interview
once you've applied and HRSC (Human Resource Service Center) looks over your resume and thinks you're a fit for the position, they will set up a phone interview with you to discuss a few things with you and ask you a few questions. Once that is done, and they approve, the manager from the department you're applying to will give you a call and schedule a live interview with you in the store. Its a casual environment, so don't go over-dressed. A nice button down shirt and dress pants is fine; no five piece suit necessary. The interview isn't nerve wrecking. its relaxed and general. as long as you've done retail before and know a little bit about the position you've applied for then it's likely that you will get the job. Then right away they will give you a drug and alcohol screening (mouth swab) Once that interview is over you may come back for a second interview and that's when you will know whether you got the job or not (pending your swab test results). From there you will schedule to come back and do BTF(Before The Floor) training. It's just an overview of what you'll be doing and a full tour of the store. Its a bi long( 8 hours if remember exactly), but you do get paid for the day. From there you will get your uniform(s) and your work schedule. And so your IKEA career begins!

Interview
Messy. 3 different recruiters reached out to me at separate times to confirm a phone interview that never came. I then emailed the manager directly to schedule something and he was late because he was walking a different store
