I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at IKEA (Sunrise, FL) in May 2010
Interview
There is a long interview process when interviewing for the Com/In team due to a position rarely being open. You will first get a phone call from a person who is weeding out the 100's of applications down to the most qualified people for the position by asking basic interest questions. You will then meet with your direct manager and answer many questions about your qualifications, work experience and why you are interested in IKEA. From there, if they are still interested in you, you will take a one hour skills (design/space planning) test, focused on a project that consists of using IKEA product that must be incorporated into the given plan/department. From there, if they like your concept and space planning/design skills, you will get asked back to meet the department manager. If all goes well...you'll get an offer :)
Had to do an entire day of interview in person, with three assignments (one at home before the interview, one group, and one individual). They offered to give feedback after they rejected me. I didn't get one when I asked for it.
