I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at IRS (New York, NY) in Apr 2022
Interview
It was pretty short. Total of probably 5 questions. My interviewer was the manager two levels up from me (so, my current manager's supervisor). I had an opportunity to introduce myself, and then I was given 3 or 4 (maybe 5?) work-related scenarios and asked how I would proceed as a Revenue Officer. What was a little odd is that the questions were for someone who is already an RO. But, from what I have read online, scenario-based questions are standard. Anyway, I had done some research on this process so this didn't surprise me. One of the questions was exactly what I had found doing internet research. There were no follow-up questions. I think I was done in 15 minutes.

Question 1
We are not supposed to share interview questions publicly. But, like I said, the questions were all situational. My guess is that the interviewer is evaluating temperament, reasoning, and ability to communicate when it comes to external hires like myself.

Interview
It was a phone interview. They asked about different scenarios you may find yourself in as a revenue officer. Most of the questions you can Google or look up on Reddit prior to the interview

Took forever to get an interview (6mos). Interview was a phone call. The guy interviewing me was nice though and had someone my age in the position I was applying for reach out to me and describe their experience on the job.
