      Client Success Manager Interview

      Interview

Received a job offer for a much lower salary than I had anticipated. I asked if they could do any better on the salary since they do not provide reimbursement for any commute expenses whatsoever (they offer relocation assistance but very little details are available on this except you have to move into NYC, not a surrounding area). Recruitment responded with a 2% higher base pay that same day and said that was the highest they’d go. I agreed but it took about a week to receive a formal job offer via docusign which at this point I was a little disappointed and also running out of time to put in a proper 2 week notice with my current employer. I was starting to feel a little undervalued of course at this point but was repeatedly assured several times that it was because the talent team had to rewrite the offer and get it approved. I read and compared the revised job offer to the original and it was identical aside from the small bump in starting pay. It also turns out they offered me a “client success specialist, dedicated” position, which is hourly when I had applied for a “client success manager” role, which is salaried. The job duties between these two roles were almost copy and paste identical aside from slightly more experienced required for the management role. I meet and exceed all the listed requirements for the managerial role but was ghosted by the talent acquisition team when I pointed this misunderstanding out. I didn’t even get a professional response, just an automatic email from Indeed saying the job offer was rescinded and zero follow up communications. Very unprofessional and I felt like a number. It’s not as if I was disrespectful or anything that would warrant this response (or lack thereof) - just pointing out a very clear issue that anyone would want to discuss and asking a few questions to the recruitment rep that was handling my onboarding. I made it clear I was still interested in Indeed but it seems there were some mistakes made. When I called the rep handling my hiring process after a response from her that indicated she was confused, my calls wouldn’t ring or even go to voicemail at this point. Very unfortunate as I was excited to start a Career with Indeed and have a lot to offer. There seems to be a lack attention to detail, professionalism and clear communication between the recruitment staff and prospects, at least in my case. It was never clarified in the interview what the official job title I was being interviewed for was nor was the compensation range brought up whatsoever. It is not acceptable with most companies to bring these things up on the first interview and the person interviewing me also did not bring up compensation. I expected a lot more from a company as large as Indeed. To be fair, the Interview went very well and the Interviewer seemed like a good indication of the company being a great place to work but everything else after that went swiftly downhill. All things said, I would still, however consider working for Indeed in the future, if the right opportunity came up and the hiring/onboarding process were less turbulent.

The interview was easy, but the interviewers were a little melow and inexperienced. I had a few good ones, but majority of them didn't qualify as interviewers regardless of their age or their title as a director. I can see that indeed as a company believes in white talents more than anything. Maybe they have employees that are not whites who handle their back functions, sites and the engineering part, which pretty much offsets majority white hiring in the frontside. I was purely not hired because of my age and/or my race.
