      Specialist Programmer Interview

      Aug 4, 2024
      Anonymous employee
      Chennai
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Infosys (Chennai) in Jul 2024

      Interview

Pre-Screening: I began the application process for the Power Programmer Wave 18 Bridge through the company's portal, where I provided details about my tech stack, work experience, and a brief statement outlining my interest in the program. A few days later, I was notified via email that I had been shortlisted for the next stage: the coding assessment. Round 1 – Coding Assessment 1: The initial technical assessment was an online test administered through Infosys’ assessment platform. It consisted of three coding questions of varying difficulty (easy, medium, and hard) to be completed within three hours. These challenges were designed to test my problem-solving abilities, algorithmic knowledge, and coding efficiency. I managed to solve two and a half questions during this assessment. Though challenging, the assessment was an excellent opportunity to demonstrate my technical skills. After completing it, I awaited the results with anticipation. Round 2 – Technical Assessment 2: Having passed the online assessment, I was invited to participate in a second round of coding assessment, this time conducted offline at an Infosys development center. This assessment featured two coding questions of easy and medium difficulty, which needed to be solved within two hours. I was able to complete both questions within an hour. Following the assessment, my Single Point of Contact (SPOC) informed me that I had advanced to the interview round, scheduled for 2 pm on the same day. Round 3: Technical + Behavioural Interview: Clearing the two rounds of coding assessments led to an invitation for a face-to-face technical interview. The interviewer was welcoming and created a comfortable environment, helping to alleviate my nervousness. The interview began with discussions about my current role, past projects, and the technologies I had worked with. The technical portion covered a broad range of topics, including core Java, Spring Boot, microservices, DBMS, data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving. Final Selection: After completing all the interview rounds, I received an email informing me that I had been selected for the Power Programmer Bridge Program at Infosys. Overall, the interview experience for the Power Programmer Bridge Program at Infosys was demanding yet fulfilling. The process allowed me to showcase my technical expertise, passion for programming, and eagerness to develop as a software engineer. The supportive and professional demeanor of the interviewer made the experience enjoyable, and I am looking forward to the learning opportunities in the Power Programmer role at Infosys.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I was asked to explain the working principles and real-life applications of various data structures such as stacks, queues, linked lists, trees, and graphs. Furthermore, the interviewer presented me with coding problems, and I had to walk through my thought process while arriving at the solutions. They were interested not only in the correct answers but also in understanding how I approached problem-solving.

      Interview

The interview was short, interviewer was uninterested but eloquent. Was trying to wrap the interview as soon as possible like he already decided i wasn't a worthy candidate. The questions asked were very basic and it could have gone better.
