I applied online. I interviewed at Ingram Micro in Feb 2019
Interview
Fairly easy interview with 2 people, about 1 hour long with fairly easy questions. A bit about yourself and questions relating to the job, past experiences, what you can bring etc
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Ingram Micro (Santa Ana, CA) in Sep 2014
Interview
The first interview with the hiring manager was awesome. He's kind and approachable. We talked for more than two hours and we've had such a good professional connection. He was not intimidating at all. He was honest and shared with me all the challenges in his department. I felt very confident about the interview. Then they brought me back for the second interview with the VP. This one was tougher than the first one since the VP has an extensive audit background. He was very technical and asked a lot of tough questions. I couldn't get a good read of where I was at with him. So I thought I failed the second interview.
A couple weeks later, their HR personnel called and asked for my address. He said they'd like to move forward with an offer and so I provided him my address. The weird thing was that my recruiter didn't know of an offer before me but nonetheless, he was happy for me. I waited and waited for a few days. There was no offer letter. I did not even hear back from their HR personnel. Then finally my recruiter called and informed me of something that I've never heard of before in my entire career. The VP's boss has stopped the offer. She thought they made the decision too quickly and she would like for them to bring in more candidates to interview, especially CPAs since I wasn't a CPA.
The interview process dragged on for another 3 weeks where they brought in 3 CPAs to interview after me. The hiring manager told my recruiter that he's apologized for how things went and asked me to be patient. Then I got the offer letter after they finished their interview process with 3 CPAs. It was nice to beat them for the job but I did not have a good impression of how the whole process went.
