I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Instacart (Washington, DC) in Oct 2017
Interview
Phone interview, 4 hour data set analysis, Phone interview, individual 4 person walk in interview. Everything was fine until the panel interview. One of the managers kept looking away during the interview, because he "did not reserve the room and had to keep checking if others had it reserved". Very distracting and rude. I spend 4 hours on your data analysis, and they don't have 30 seconds to reserve a conference room. Interview left a really bad taste with Instacart.

Question 1
They ask you some really out of the box interview questions. Questions that are so out of the box that they are no longer rational. "if we did not give you the data set, how would you have come up with your solution?"
I applied online. I interviewed at Instacart in Dec 2021
Interview
the process began with an email request to schedule a phone call (intro to company discussion of experience, expectations, questions, challenges. following the call would be a video interview including several rounds of one on one and or group interviews.

Question 1
describe a difficult situation you encountered with a customer
Phone interview followed by a data set analysis challenge. Very straight forward and easy. I wasn’t selected, and in the email the recruiter stated if I wanted any feedback to let her know. I reached out (I like learning what my weaknesses are, what they didn’t like, etc.) She never bothered to respond back. Poor look on the company.

Does the job description sound like something you’d like doing?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Instacart (Atlanta, GA) in Oct 2019
Interview
They were super friendly and helpful all throughout. Very standard "marketplace" process (e.g. Uber, Instacart, DoorDash). The steps were 1) recruiter phone screen, 2) take-home exercise (24 hours, they give you a dataset), 3) interview with the hiring manager (talked about my experience, a behavioral question, and a small case-like question), 4) interview panel with 5 people.
