      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      Oct 11, 2010
      Anonymous employee
      Bengaluru
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Intuit (Bengaluru) in Oct 2008

      Interview

I got a call from a consultant recruiting for Intuit. Though he wasn't a technical engineer, he asked me some basic C++ questions, to make sure I qualify for an on-site interview. The on-site interview started at 10 AM, and it went till 4 PM, with 3 technical, 1 manager, and 1 HR interview. 2 of the 3 technical interviewers did not indicate if I was doing well, or not. I knew I wasn't doing that great answering C++ questions, and a few programming logic questions. The 3rd technical interview, by an architect went ok. I told the architect that my performance has not been good in the interview, to which he replied that people usually perform at 70% of their capacity in their interviews, and they understand that. I briefed him about my nature of work, the books I read, and the general technical mindset I carry. He understood what I meant and was very convinced. I was offered a job, and I spoke to HR to adjust the offer to my requirements, which they did. Overall a smooth experience. They were ready to send a cab to pick me up from home to collect the offer letter. Also, I got a box of chocolates by post, as a goodwill gesture. After all, life is like a box of chocolates. I am still at Intuit, and it is a reasonably good place to be in, if ones' charter is to develop applications that wow the customers.

      Interview

Applied through referral after initially applying on the careers page. The process started with a recruiter screen discussing my background, tech stack, and role expectations. This was followed by a 1-hour phone screen with coding questions using the Glider platform. The onsite loop was around 6 hours and included a backend hands-on exercise, system design discussions, and deep dives into my solution and past experience. Recruiter communication was clear and timely throughout the process.
