I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Jefferies (New York, NY) in Oct 2015
Interview
The hiring process began with networking and on campus and telephone calls to bankers. The interview process was a one day interview, one technical and one behavioral. It was a fairly friendly interview that they tried to help me throughout the process to guide me to the right answers.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why investment banking? Why Jefferies? Greatest strength and weakness.
Smooth, kind, technical
People interviewing me were generally kind, wanted to really know who I am and at the same time wanted to know if I was really interested in equity
Process was organized. The conversation was fast-paced but conversational, reflecting the culture of Sales & Trading.
Interviewer focused on market knowledge, behavioral questions, and a little technical understanding of equities and macro trends. They were clearly assessing both technical competence and personality fit, especially comfort with high-pressure environments and strong communication skills.
Overall, the experience felt competitive but fair
