Recruiter called to set up a phone screen with the hiring manager. The hiring manager called to tell me about the job, asked me a simple technical question. Didn’t really care about my background- just told me about the team and the position. He then asked me to come in for an in person interview. When I arrived the hiring manager was the only person there and four people where on the phone. The first person on the phone asked conceptual technical questions that didn’t really make sense or apply to real world setting. I couldn’t hear and there was no visuals and could hardly understand the person on the phone. I got annoyed and frustrated and after the initial three questions I made no effort to answer the rest of the questions that the 3 other people asked. The guerella style interview didn’t work for me and I wouldn’t want to work with them. I would have been fine with real world questions or an online assement. They made no effort to get to learn about my background so an assement would have been adequate for this purpose.
