I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at LexisNexis Legal & Professional (Dayton, OH) in Nov 2023
Interview
Unprofessional and a waste of my time. Recruiter (I won’t mention her name here) was rude and it almost seemed like she had made her mind up about me before I even answered a question. You could tell she was going through my resume for the first time when on the initial interview. Asked me questions like, “Why is there a year gap between jobs during 2018-2020?”. Well at the top of my resume you can see I graduated college in 2020 and that experience in question was labeled an internship. “Yeah, but why is there a gap?”. Because I was in school… No questions about the job role or how my experiences can translate to the role.
Only questions I was asked were around the topics of, why I wanted to work at LexusNexus and then the recruiter went on about how she didn’t know if I would be right for the role based on my past experiences (why interview me then?)
Nonetheless, I got past her and was offered a 2nd interview by the recruiter on the phone. Recruiter never sent me the invite for a 2nd interview, so I reached out. Took her until the day of the interview (a week of nothing, only “out of office” replies) and an hour before to confirm the interview and send a link. She then gave me a snarky reply, “you should check your junk and spam folders first before reaching out”. Well I did and I had nothing.
2nd interview was great with 2 people who were way more professional. Great conversation with the 2 of them and it was 10x better than the initial conversation. The questions during this 2nd interview pertained more to my past experiences and what skills I can bring from those past experiences to this role.
Alas, after telling me I would hear back within 2 weeks, nothing. I reached out to the recruiter again, nothing. I had to log on and check the status of my application to find out I was no longer under consideration.
The process left a sour taste in my mouth and now I realize that this company is not the same as it was a year ago (just check the recent reviews). Based on the interviews, the role sounds more like a churn and burn call center sales gig than anything else.
